,, duo (Duo Comma) formed in 2009 with the intention of exploring existing, and developing new, microtonal repertory for the trombone - a task which includes the creation of performance techniques relying non-conventional handslide positions and variable tuning of trigger-valve mechanisms. They have a secondary interest in promoting works within the American experimental tradition. ,, duo is Matt Barbier and Douglas Wadle, trombones, etc.

The Unbuttoned Sleeves create improvisational interdisciplinary performances based upon extended research into topics - either one topic per performer, the topics butting against one another to reveal unexpected connections and resonances, or a single topic shared by the performers but shaded by their individual perspectives. In the former category are the works Unbuttoned Sleeves (2005), Turtles All the Way Down (2007), and To Borrow Salt (2009). In the latter category are 101 (2006) and Conversation Piece (2010). The Sleeves are directed by post-modern dance artist and poet, Simone Forti. The remaining members are composer Douglas C. Wadle, theater artist Terrence Luke Johnson, and choreographer Sarah Swenson. Since 2009, choreographer Kristen Smiarowski has served as the group's dramaturge.
